Today, over 400 student leaders gathered from all over the TCDSB to participate in the annual Voices That Challenge conference. Each year, this conference is run for the Annual Student Trustee Board Report, where students get to voice their thoughts, concerns and opinions and have it taken to a larger board-wide medium. This year, we had amazing workshops led by teachers, students, and non-profits tackling topics such as mental health, leadership initiatives, service trips etc. We also had two amazing keynote speakers: Emmanuel Jal, a Juno-nominated musician, former child soldier and now a renowned political activist who recently starred along Reese Witherspoon in "The Good Lie", a drama film set during the second Sudanese Civil War; We also had Craig Kielburger, the co-founder of the famous international charity Free The Children and its partnering organization, the social enterprise Me to We, which hosts the annual youth empowerment event We Day.
